The Broil King Baron 440 is a great medium sized natural gas grill. What makes it stand out among other grills in the similar price range is very precise heat control and great heat retention. It is also one of the most versatile grills out there. It can accommodate almost every cooking style including searing, roasting, baking and even making a rotisserie.

Broil King grills are made in USA and Canada, and their Baron series of gas grills is packed with features. Every part of this grill is designed for a specific purpose which enables them to deliver impeccable performance every time. If you are interested in gas grills, you can learn more about them in another article.

Features

What makes Broil King Baron stand out is that it enables amazingly even heating across the cooking spaces and has great heat retention. This is possible because every part is thoughtfully designed and made from the right material.

The cook box is made of stainless steel and die-cast aluminum which makes it durable and great for heat retention. The cook box is deep, and it has a hood that is pretty high. The high hood means there is extra headroom for a rotisserie or other large items like roasts.

The Broil King Baron 440 has 444 square inches of grilling surface in the central cooking area. It is obviously not the most massive grill you can get, but for most occasions, this is more than enough space.

It also has a side burner and a warming rack, so total cooking space amounts to 644 square inches.

Standard tubular burners tend to produce uneven heating because the usually have higher pressure at the front of the burner. Broil King Baron features four dual tube burners that Broil King specially designed with the aim to make the heat even from front to back, and they are they did a great job! You can put your meat on any part of the grilling surface, and it will be cooked perfectly.

The burners provide 10 000 BTU each which amounts to 40 000 BTU maximum output from the main burners. Also, there is a side burner with 10 000 BTU which is excellent for preparing side dishes. Furthermore, Linear-Flow valves with 180 degrees Sensi-Touch control enable super precise heat control.

The grids are made from heavy-duty cast iron which is one of the best materials when it comes to heat retention. The best thing about these grids is that they are reversible and they have two different sides. One side is pointed so it leaves a those awesome steakhouse-like sear marks. The other side is dented so it can capture juices from the meat.

There is also the Broil King’s Flav-R-Wave cooking system. This system protects the burners and vaporizes drippings, so they are infused right back into the food that’s cooking. Is this the reason meat tastes so great when cooked on the Broil King Baron? We don’t know. Maybe it’s the Flav-R-Wave, maybe it’s some of the other features, and maybe it’s all of them combined.

Even though it has so many features, Broil King Baron is still quite compact. It is one of the heavier grills, weighing 154 pounds, but the side shelves can be folded and it is quite sturdy so it is not too hard to move it around. It also has swivel casters which can be locked supporting the stand for easier moving. Furthermore, each of the legs can be leveled so it can be stable on uneven surfaces too.

Conclusion

This Broil King Baron grill cooks the meat evenly and thoroughly, but that’s nat all that it can do. You can easily cook side dishes while roasting meat, and you can even bake desserts. This sturdily built propane grill is compact and packed with features. It could easily be the best medium-sized gas grill in this price range.

My dad is a true mans man, and has owned a number of grills. Ranging from gas to charcoal. Growing up with him allowed me to see what different types of rubs, spices, brines, etc went into making the best BBQ. Although my dad was a truck driver, and I had a degree in Information Technology I knew that I wanted to do something about grilling and our recipes.  That’s where Barbeque Smoked comes in.
